DTTL - Fulda, Duesseldorf, Ochsenhausen, and Bremen winners of the day

TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell - 1. FC Saarbrücken 3-1

Top match of the division between number one club Fulda and actual number three Saarbruecken in front of 830 enthusiastic spectators. The host squad was playing the same high level as two days ago against Angers in ETTU Cup competition. Wang Xi defeated Andrej Gacina 3-1, Bojan Tokic equalized against Robert Svensson (3-1). But after Fulda was dominating again: 44 year old Jan-Ove Waldner overcame Leung Chu Yan 3-1. Wang Xi finished the game with a 3-1 against Tokic. Fulda-Maberzell is staying on top of the table, but defender of title Duesseldorf is just two points behind them. Jan-Ove Waldner: "I’m sure we already reached play-off semifinals. At the moment it’s a great joy for me to play table tennis."

TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau - Borussia Düsseldorf 2-3

Kenji Matsudaira850 spectators in completely filled Zuegbruecken hall expected an easy match for title defender Duesseldorf, Grenzau was not winning one game since the beginning of 2010. In fact, after first two matches it seemed to be a short job for the reigning champion even without Timo Boll. In a Japanese duel Seiya Kishikawa defeated Kenji Matsudaira (photo) who surprisingly was nominated to play singles instead of Lucjan Blaszczyk. After, Christian Suess overcame Patrick Baum. Suddenly Grenzau came back: Tomas Pavelka won against Trinko Keen, Matsudaira sensationally against Suess. After 200 minutes Duesseldorf took the two points because of decisive doubles where Kishikawa/Keen defeated Baum/Blaszczyk. Grenzau‘s coach Michele Comparato: "Unfortunately our chance to reach play-off round is very small now.” Dirk Wagner, coach of the winner: "Within two days we demonstrated two times fighting spirit and strong nerves.”

TTF LIEBHERR Ochsenhausen - TTC indeland Jülich 3-1

After fantastic ECL matches Ochsenhausen frequently disappointed in DTTL. Not so this Sunday after the great performance on Friday against Hennebont. 400 spectators saw a host team with a good fighting spirit. Juelich, which was showing some good games before, was not having a real chance to win. Chuang Chih-Yuan got the first point of TTF, overcoming Yang Zi from Singapore 3-2. Portuguese Marcos Freitas won the lefthander duel with Pär Gerell, equalizing for Juelich but after Ochsenhausen was dominating. Crisan won Bobillier 3-0, Chuang defeated Freitas 3-1. Ochsenhausen’s president Rainer Ihle: “This victory was very important for us to get a new chance to reach play-off round.”

TG 1837 Hanau - SV Werder Bremen 2-3

600 people saw this thrilling match of two teams which very hard to avoid decline into second league. Number one player of Hanau Chiang Hung-Chieh from Taipeh was having a bad day losing against Lars Hielscher and Jens Lundquist. Much better the performance of table tennis legend Joerg Rosskopf who gave Lundquist no chance. Also tall 21 year old Steffen Mengel won for Hanau overcoming Japanese Taku Takakiwa. After three and an half hour decisive doubles decided for the guest squad: Hielscher/Takakiwa defeated Franziska/Roßkopf 7:11, 11:8, 13:11, 14:12. Hanau’s coach Helmut Hampl: “We still have eight games to play, so there is no reason to resign.” Cristian Tamas, the coach of Werder: “It was a thrilling, dramatic game of high quality and a strong fight of both. At the end my team was a lucky winner.”
